VERY SOFT HIGH QUALITY TUMBLED VEGETABLE-TANNED LEATHER ± 1.6 mm / 4 oz THICK

This chemical free vegetable-tanned leather is very rare to find and especially pleasant to work with because of its incredible softness and resistance to tearing.

It is characterized by its butter-soft temper and its natural full grain (no acrylic lining, only wax and fats) that will age with a beautiful patina.  

It is tanned with vegetable-tannins only, which makes it suitable for people allergic or highly sensitive to chemicals. It is tanned with oak tannins and absolutely without the addition of heavy-metals or petroleum derivatives (unlike most so-called vegetable-tanned leather on the market).
The Brown one has just a little bit of natural dye on the surface. The Tan one is undyed. Over time, and with leather treatment or oils, the color will tend to darken.

The only downside of this leather compared to the mineral-tanned leather we sell is that it remains more sensitive to water and stains, but with regular leather treatment and resoling, it will surely withstand years of intensive wear.

Another good thing about this leather is that you can use the decorative techniques of traditional vegetable-tanned leather, like stamping, carving, dying, etc., to magnify your moccasins.

We only sell it in full hide (neck area) with a size that can vary.
The smallest hides will be enough to make 2 or 3 pairs of low moccasins, while the biggest ones will enable you to make 4 to 6 pairs of low moccasins or several pairs of boots.
